Lina Beydoun is a Brookings Doha Center - Qatar University Joint Fellow. Since 2008, she has been an assistant professor in the Sociology Department at Adelphi University. Previously, she taught at George Mason University, where she managed their Global Humanitarian Action and International Development programs in the Center for Global Education. She has also worked as lecturer in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Wayne State University. Her work and publications focus on human rights, migration, and citizenship in the Arab region and sub-Saharan Africa. Beydoun has completed extensive research on Lebanese migration to Sierra Leone and is currently examining the effects of the Arab Spring on minority rights in Egypt and Kuwait. Beydoun received her Ph.D. in sociology from Wayne State University and her B.A. in social and behavioral sciences from the American University of Beirut.
