Linda Chaput

Founder & CEO, Agile Mind

Linda Chaput is the founder and CEO of Agile Mind, Inc., an education company that has pioneered the application of emerging technologies to transform teaching and learning of mathematics and science in our nation's middle and high schools.

She led the participatory design of Agile Mind’s instructional programs, which are engineered to provide educators and learners with ubiquitous access to comprehensive, highly interactive instructional resources and immediately useful reports and analyses to support students’ mastery of complex standards-aligned subject matter.

More than 2.5 million adolescent learners and the 25,000 educators who serve them have participated in Agile Mind’s programs. The company hosts one of the largest repositories of data on student learning of mathematics in the country. These data are used by Agile Mind and by a growing body of researchers to continuously improve its programs and services and to deepen the research base for those working to foster high achievement–especially in school systems serving highly diverse, low-income populations.

Under Chaput's leadership, through the respectful and innovative application of modern technologies, Agile Mind is realizing its commitment to helping educators teach smarter and to helping students take more responsibility for their learning. The company has been awarded nine of the prestigious Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards, created by the U.S. government to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of federal research funds in small businesses.

Chaput has more than 20 years of experience at top executive levels in development and dissemination of educational products and materials. Prior to founding Agile Mind, she was founder and CEO of Cogito Learning Media, Inc, a pioneering provider of top-quality multimedia and Internet-ready learning tools authored by leading authorities.

Chaput also served for a decade as president of Scientific American’s education, general, professional, and reference publishing companies. During her tenure, the company worked with leading researchers and educators to create market-leading programs and publications in mathematics, science, and psychology that were characterized by intellectual and pedagogical innovation. Many became enduring best sellers in the United States, and, translated into many languages, throughout the world.
