n her diverse career, Linda Wiener has blended her unique experiences in the private and non-profit sectors, and academia, to become a recognized authority in three distinct fields of aging and work. An expert in the development of the 21st Century workforce she presents her Adapting to an Aging Workforce© training to employers, teaches gerontology program students about career options, and counsels and advocates for older workers.

For over 20 years Wiener has been helping employers develop and retain a quality workforce. Working with businesses and organizations to develop and manage their workforce, she excels in the development of training that is specific to employers’ needs. The mission of Wiener Training and Consulting (www.wetrainandconsult.com) is developing human potential in the workplace.

Wiener has helped thousands of midlife and older job seekers successfully reenter the job market or change careers. She is a recipient of the prestigious NCOA national Dorothy Bauer Award for “Exemplary Service to Older Workers.”

Currently in her sixth year as the Age Issues Expert for Monster.com, Wiener hosts their Age Issues message board (http://discussion.monster.com/experts/wiener) and writes articles for older job seekers. This ongoing exchange allows her to bridge communications between today's job hunters and their prospective employers.

Combining a 15-year AARP career with national workforce development training experience, Wiener also specializes in helping gerontology program students explore careers in the field. She developed a university level program, and her widely used Exploring Careers in Gerontology© (www.exploringcareersingerontology.com) academic textbook is the first of its kind.

As a nationally-recognized authority on older worker and mid-career issues and concerns, Wiener is frequently interviewed by the media including The Wall Street Journal, US World & News Report, HR Magazine, CNET and The Oregonian among others. She is also a contributor to business publications concerning the issue of older workers.

Wiener is a member of the American Society on Aging, the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education, the California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics, the Oregon and California Career Development Associations, the National Career Development Association and the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
