Lindiwe Sibeko    

Associate Professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst; Expert in Maternal and Child Health

Lindiwe Sibeko is an Associate Professor at University of Massachusetts Amherst and an expert in maternal and child health in racial/ethnic minorities and low-income populations. She specializes in community-based research on breastfeeding and childhood obesity prevention.

Sibeko has a professional background in dietetics, lactation care/management and community health programming for at risk women and children, coupled with community-engaged research in the area of breastfeeding and human milk. She uses a life-course framework that integrates research, education and extension outreach to improve health outcomes among women and children vulnerable to health disparities. Her research seeks to identify early risk factors at the individual, community and institutional levels and to develop multilevel interventions that contribute to improved health outcomes, throughout the life course of vulnerable women, infants and children.

Sibeko attended Mount Saint Vincent University for her undergraduate degree and received her Masters of Science and Ph.D from McGill University. Previously, Sibeko is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dietitian, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
