Actress Best Known for Her Role on "The Facts Of Life", Author & Ministry Founder

Lisa Whelchel was born on May 29, 1963 and is an actress, author and speaker. Whelchel found her love for acting at eight years old and performed in musical theater until she was 12, when she was discovered by talent scouts in her home state of Texas. She was chosen from a nationwide talent search to be a Mouseketeer on "The New Mickey Mouse Club." She was in two seasons of the show before appearing in straight-to-video movies and TV shows.

Whelchel was cast as Blair Warner on "The Facts of Life," which first aired in 1979. She played the preppy, privileged girl on the popular NBC series for nine years, until the show ended in 1988. Whelchel also played Caroline Shea and Kelly Barrett on "The Love Boat" from 1983 to 1985. In addition to her acting, Whelchel released a Contemporary Christian album, "All Because Of You," in 1984. She was nominated for a Grammy for Best Inspirational Performance.

Whelchel got married in July 1988 and had three children in the early 90s. During this time, she decided to leave show business and focus on her family. After a long acting hiatus, she returned to her role as Blair Warner in 2001 for the made-for-television movie, "The Facts of Life Reunion."

Whelchel also started writing and has authored numerous books about motherhood, child discipline, friendships, homeschooling and religion. Her books "So You're Thinking About Homeschooling" and "The Facts of Life Taught Me (and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me)" are both bestsellers.

She is also an inspirational speaker, visiting churches and conferences nationwide since 2004. She began touring with Woman of Faith conferences in 2009 speaking on different issues including friendship, motherhood and child discipline.

Whelchel also appeared as a contestant on "Survivor: Philippines."
