Lisa Wysocky

Registered PATH Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Mystery Author, Educator of Horses for EAAT

Lisa Wysocky is a registered level PATH International instructor and also holds a certification as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. In addition, she has been chosen as one of the country's Top 50 riding instructors by ARIA (American Riding Instructor's Association).

With a life balanced between books and horses, Lisa is an author, equine clinician, and motivational speaker who trains horses for and consults with therapeutic riding programs. Born in Minneapolis and raised nearby, a riding instructor once taught Lisa that by striving to be the best you can be, you often become the best anyone can be. That concept of success, and the instructor's insistence that how you won in the show ring--or in life--was more important than what you won, changed her life.

Lisa studied to be a horse trainer at the University of Minnesota and then brought her ideas on success to the show ring. Early wins on the national horse show circuit took Lisa across North America, where she was asked to speak, or to write articles for national publications. Lisa's passion for writing and speaking led to a second run at college where she studied communications and journalism.

An injury cut short Lisa's career as a competitive horse trainer, but she took her unique skills and ventured into music. Six years as a correspondent for Nashville's afternoon paper, the Nashville Banner, and her reputation in the music industry as a writer of quality biographical and promotional material, piloted Lisa to a career in public relations. Additionally, Lisa has headed several independent record labels, edited numerous books, written a weekly syndicated celebrity lifestyles column, and was a regular featured guest on Jones Radio Networks syndicated overnight show, Danny Wright All Night.

Lisa is the co-author, with Brad Cohen, of Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had. Front of the Class has been seen on Oprah and Inside Edition and in People magazine. It was the winner of Best Education Book at the IPPY and ForeWord book awards and aired as a Hallmark Hall of Fame television movie. The Front of the Class movie was also nominated for a Faith & Freedom award by MovieGuide and won a CAMIE for character and morality in entertainment. Lisa has also written the inspiring Two Foot Fred: How My Life Has Come Full Circle, by Fred Gill with Lisa Wysocky and Walking on Eggshells, co-authored with Lyssa Chapman, daughter of Dog the Bounty Hunter. Her newest collaboration is Hidden Girl: The True Story of a Modern-Day Child Slave, written with Shyima Hall.

Lisa's true passions lie in the field of horses. Her book and DVD, My Horse, My Partner: Teamwork on the Ground focus on helping horse and human partners form amazing bonds using traditional ground training, natural horsemanship, and desensitization. And, Lisa combines her love of horses and country music in Horse Country: A Celebration of Country Music and the Love of Horses. This beautiful coffee table book features twenty-seven of the top stars of country music talking about how horses changed their life for the better.

The September 2011 publication of the four-time award winning equestrian mystery, The Opium Equation, an equestrian mystery, marked Lisa's debut fiction effort. The follow up, The Magnum Equation, takes place at an all breed horse show and published in September 2013.

As a speaker Lisa has motivated people from dozens of companies and associations. As an equine clinician she helps horses and humans connect in a meaningful way, assists people in reaching their goals with horses, and helps people understand the "whys" behind equine behavior. She is proud to be sponsored by ACTHA in 2014.
