Chairman of Legend Holdings Limited; Founder of Lenovo Group Limited

Mr. Liu Chuanzhi is chairman of the board and chair of the executive committee of Legend Holdings as well as chairman of Legend Capital, Hony Capital and Raycom Real Estate. He also is founder and honorary chairman of Lenovo.

Liu Chuanzhi started the business with a $24,000 loan from the Chinese government in 1984. His leadership emphasizes the core management team, strategy and execution – seeking to take the best Western management theories and apply them to the reality of creating a Chinese-based global brand. Lenovo is now the second-largest computer group in the world.

He was a deputy to the 16th and 17th National Congresses of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and a delegate to the 9th, 10th and 11th National People’s Congresses (NPC) of China. His other civic duties include vice president of the 9th and 10th All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), vice chairman of the Private Business Chamber of Commerce of China, chairman of the China Entrepreneur Club (CEC), member of the advisory board of Tsinghua University’s School of Economics & Management, guest professor at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Peking University and Renmin University.

Mr. Liu was born in 1944, in the city of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province in China, and graduated from the Xi’an Military Communications Engineering Institution (now Xidian University) in China in 1966.
