Lon Otremba
Lon Otremba, the principal managing partner, is a veteran operating executive and advisor in the internet publishing, print, television and broadcast music industriesand a well known pioneer in interactive media.
A frequent commentator on interactive marketing and operating strategies, he has presented to such events as the Forbes CFO Conference, The Economist Conference, the Business Week, Internet World, and AdTech Conferences, and has appeared on CNN and CNBC, and served on the executive board of the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
He is an active investor and advisor in the new media and medical technology industries, and serves on the board of directors of Access 360 Media, a multi-platform media company targeting young adults; EEI Communications, a leading provider of outsourced new media, print publishing and staffing services; Cardium Therapeutics, Inc., a publicly traded medical technology company primarily focused on the development, manufacture and sale of innovative products for cardiovascular and related indications; Artes Medical, a publicly traded medical technology company focused on the development of new and innovative products for the Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology markets; and Power Medical Interventions, a privately held technology company developing surgical tools for natural orifice surgery.
Until August 2005, Lon Otremba was Chief Executive Officer of Muzak, LLC, the world’s largest provider of commercial music services. In 2004, Muzak generated $245mm in revenues and $66mm in EBITDA. His primary mission was the restructuring of all of Muzak’s operations from top to bottom, including completely centralizing all of the company’s operations and introducing handheld technology to its 500 plus technician force.
Prior to joining Muzak, he served as Executive Vice President of America Online’s Interactive Marketing Group, a $720mm plus business, responsible for developing and leading the short and long-term strategy and operations for AOL’s advertising and e-commerce business turnaround. Many of the initiatives undertaken during his tenure there formed the foundation for AOL’s reemergence as an interactive marketing leader. He also served as Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning for Time Warner’s Local Partnership Group, the company’s push to consolidate its many local advertising based businesses.
Prior to Time Warner, he was part of the team that launched Mail.com (now known as EasyLink Services Corporation), helped guide them through an IPO in 1999, and served as President and Chief Operating Officer from October 1997 to November 2000. Before that, he was one of the founding members of the CNET Networks management team, where from 1994 through 1997 he was Executive Vice President, responsible for developing CNET’s highly successful revenue model in interactive media and television, and helped position the company for a successful IPO in 1996. Previously, he held various senior executive management positions at Ziff Davis Publishing and CMP Media. He began his career at Procter and Gamble.
In addition to his board seats with Access 360 Media, EEI Communications, Cardium Theraputics, Artes Medical, and Power Medical Interventions, he is also a trustee of the Buckley Country Day School in Roslyn, New York.
