Loni Love

Stand-up Comedian; Author of "Love Him or Leave Him But Don't get Stuck with the Tab"

Throughout her career, comedian and actress Loni Love has brought audiences into hysterics with her witty satire and hilarious stand-up. Through her tireless pursuits for comedic excellence, Love has now found herself in the top tier of comedy as one of the hosts of Fox’s daytime show The Real, which will be premiering this summer, as a regular Guest DJ on The Ellen Show, and a recurring corresponding on Chelsea Lately and Entertainment Tonight. Loni was named a Hot Comic in Campus Activity magazine and one of the “Top 10 Comics to Watch” for both Variety and Comedy Central. With a knack for show business, Love is not only one of the most uproarious and endearing comics around, but also one of the most recognized faces on TV as busy host, guest panelist and actress who continues to strive in every facet of the industry. When not busy traveling the globe on her “Love Train” comedy tour, Love hosts Fox’s daytime show The Real and just released her first book, Love Him or Leave Him: But Don’t Pick Up the Tab, part -memoir, part-relationship advice book. Loni has also been seen on E!’s Wildest TV Show Moments, and recurs as a panelist on both the late night talk show Chelsea Lately and truTV’s The Smoking Gun Presents: The World’s Dumbest. Love is also a host of Logo TV’s popular series Gossip Queens.

Growing up as a latchkey daughter of a hardworking mother in Detroit’s Brewster-Douglass Housing Projects, Loni Love always had an unparalleled work ethic. Working on the General Motors assembly line in High School, she found a passion for electrical engineering which landed her a scholarship to Prairie View A&M University in Texas. It was there that she first took to the stage and fell in love with stand-up comedy, routinely getting gigs throughout college. Upon graduation, Love landed an engineering job in California and headed west to pursue her dream.

After feeling out the Los Angeles comedy club scene and becoming a regular at the legendary Laugh Factory, “The Love Train” reached full steam in 2003 when the electrical engineer by day / stand-up comedian by night was chosen for the comics showcase at HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Soon after, Love won the Jury Prize for Best Stand-Up and was a finalist on CBS TV’s revival of Star Search both in the same year. Since then, the Detroit native has since forged a diverse and dynamic career that qualifies her as one of the most hardworking women in show business.

Her comedic flair and entertaining presence landed Love a role in the major motion picture Soul Plane alongside Tom Arnold, D.L. Hughley, and Snoop Dog. She has continued honing her acting craft in successful theater productions including 12 Angry Women, LoveSide, Sister Girl, Devil’s Journey, alongside Danny Trejo and Danny Glover in the Bad Ass film franchise, and will soon be seen in Paul Blart: Mall Cop franchise.

On the small screen, Love starred in her own half-hour special for Comedy Central in 2007 and has also been seen on the channel’s Premium Blend, Weekends at the DL and Chocolate News. Her many television appearances include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Dr. Drew’s Life Changers, Bethenny, Good Afternoon America, Kickin’ It, The Doctors, The Joy Behar Show, Rosie, The Best Damn Sports Show Period, VH1′s I Love the 70′s/80′s/90′s, Vh1′s The Great Debate and Comics Unleashed” among numerous others. Love has enjoyed a recurring role on the Nickelodeon show Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide as well as guest starring roles on UPN’s Girlfriends and the CBS sitcom Worst Week. She has also been a guest host on GSN Live, as well as a correspondent for The Dr. Oz Show. In 2009 Loni became a CNN correspondent for the show D.L. Hughley Breaks the News covering the inauguration of President Barak Obama. Loni Love was also the red carpet correspondent for the 2010 E! Oscar After Party and the 2011 E! Golden Globes After Party.

Loni’s very own one-hour special entitled Loni Love: America’s Sister premiered May 22, 2010 on Comedy Central to rave reviews. Loni is also a regular fixture on Bethenny, Chelsea Handler’s E! reality show, After Lately, and has guest starred on NBC’s Whitney alongside Whitney Cummings.
