Lord Michael Hastings

Lord Michael Hastings is the International Director of Corporate Citizenship and Diversity at KPMG, one of the world's leading providers of Audit, Tax and Advisory services. According to him, an effective, proactive citizen must use the privilege of his position, the significance of his skills, the investment of others in him, the gift of his talents and thus, bring that to bear to move the needle forward again to support people at the margins of the society, to take on the big and challenging themes of our world and to make a difference.

Having being involved, for a large part of his career, with socially responsible issues, he currently chairs Crime Concern, an organization of which he is also a founding member. In 2003, he received the award of the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to reduce crime with Crime Concern.

He was made a house peer in the House of Lords in 2006. The BBC and TV-am journalist and presenter turned social activist was the first head of Corporate Social Responsibility at the BBC. During his 12-year period at the BBC, he headed the BBC public affairs in Westminster. He is a Patron of the Child In Need Institute in the UK, an organization that assist poor mothers and children in India.
