Louis Boorstin

Louis Boorstin manages the Environmental Projects Unit of International Finance Corporation. A member of the World Bank Group, IFC provides debt and equity financing for private‑sector projects in developing countries. Within IFC, the Environmental Projects Unit acts as a catalyst to identify, develop and structure projects with specific environmental objectives. In supporting projects ranging from renewable energy to clean water supply, the unit draws on IFC’s own investment resources as well as concessional funding from sources such as the Global Environment Facility.

Before taking up his current position in January 1997, Boorstin was a Senior Investment Officer in IFC’s Asia Department where he financed projects ranging from cement plants to shipping companies. Prior to joining IFC in 1990, Boorstin worked as an investment banker for five years in a Wall Street firm.

He holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University, a M.A. in Development Economics from Stanford University, and a M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
