Lt. Col. Daniel L. Davis (ret)
Four-Time Combat Veteran; Awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor at the Battle of 73 Easting in 1991 and a Bronze Star Medal for Service in Afghanistan in 2011
Davis is a dynamic, experienced, and inspiring speaker based on decades of military service and public speaking. He retired from the US Army as a Lt. Col. after 21 years of active service and is currently a Senior Fellow and Military Expert at Defense Priorities, a think tank based in Washington, DC. Having long served in the Middle East, he has a keen interest in the region and has in-depth knowledge of the people, their histories and cultures.
He lived more than seven total years abroad in such places as Germany, South Korea, Qatar, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. His understanding of cultures in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East is substantial.
He was deployed to combat zones four times in his career, beginning with Operation Desert Storm in 1991, and then to Iraq in 2009 and Afghanistan twice (2005, 2011). He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor at the Battle of 73 Easting in 1991 and a second Bronze Star Medal in Afghanistan in 2011.
He has made a number of fact-finding missions to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a number of humanitarian missions to refugee camps in Kurdistan region of Iraq and Africa. Davis has been speaking in public for decades, including during the Army before audiences such as senior generals and Army Secretaries. Since retiring, he has expanded his speaking career to include speaking to audiences on Capitol Hill, educational groups, and other speaking outlets.
Lt. Col. Davis continues to make numerous appearances on television, national and syndicated radio programs. He is a regular contributor to Fox News Channel, as well as BBC World News, CNN and CNBC. He has appeared on radio shows for Fox Radio, Boston Herald Radio, the David Webb Show, Morano in the Morning (New York) and others.
He is also an avid writer whose articles have appeared in the nation’s premier print media such as Washington Post, New York Times, Time, Newsweek, The Hill, Stars & Stripes, The Guardian, US News & World Report, Washington Times, Washington Examiner, FoxNews.com, CNBC.com, Real Clear Defense, Breaking Defense, Politico, The National Interest, and The America Conservative, among others. Davis also frequently provides expert testimony to members of Congress, their staff, and at Congressional hearings."
