Luca De Biase is innovation editor at Il Sole 24 Ore and Nova24, of which he is the founder, and now in charge, as editor, of Vita Nòva, a tablet magazine. Lecturer at the master in science communication at Padua University, member of the scientific committee for the master in science communication at Sissa in Trieste, lecturer at the master on Big Data at Pisa University and much more. Since 2014 De Biase has been a member of the Permanent Board for Innovation and the Italian Digital Agenda, member of the Commission on safeguards, rights and duties for the use of the internet in the Italian Houses of Parliament, and member of the Scientific Committee for the Digital Agenda in Emilia Romagna.
In 2012 he worked with the Italian minister for Economic Development as part of a task force dedicated to improving the ecosystem of innovative start-ups; in 2013 he participated in the Prime Minister’s mission unit on the Italian Digital Agenda, and chaired the Ahref Foundation, a research centre on social media information quality. He is a member of the Board of Directors at the Fondazione Golinelli and of the board of trustees at Nexa.
At international level, De Biase has been invited to speak on numerous occasions: at the OECD in Paris, StsForum in Kyoto, Mit-MediaLab in Cambridge Massachusetts, Atomium Culture in Brussels, Falling Walls in Berlin, the Università della Svizzera Italiana. He also lectured in Sciences Po in Paris, at the Master of Public Affairs, from 2007 to 2012.
His most recent books and pamphlets include: "Homo Pluralis. Essere umani nell’era tecnologica," [Being Human in a Technological Age] (Codice, 2015) Media civici. "Informazione di mutuo soccorso" [Civic media. Non-Profit information] (Vita Feltrinelli 20013).
He writes about and studies journalism and new media, technological innovation, local development, rights and duties associated with Internet use, the innovative start-up world, the economy of knowledge.
