Economist, Co-Founder & Director of Now-Casting Economics Ltd; Professor at the London Business School; Former Director of General Research at the European Central Bank

Lucrezia Reichlin has been a notable figure in the world of economics since her tenure as Director General of Research at the European Central Bank from 2005 to 2008. This period galvanized her reputation as a pioneer in now-casting in economics, an innovative approach to real-time data analysis which is now utilized by central banks and private investors globally. She is also the co-founder and director of Now-Casting Economics Ltd, which delivers updated short-term macroeconomic forecasts for the world's major economies.

Reichlin's expertise extends to the classroom as well, as she has been a Professor at London Business School since 2008. Her commitment to academia is further demonstrated by her involvement with numerous educational institutions, including the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), the Center for Applied Financial Economics (CAFE) at the University of Southern California, and the Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI) at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). She is the founder of the Ortygia foundation, a non-profit organization that supports female education in the South of Italy.

Reichlin's contributions extend beyond academia and central banking. She has held the role of non-executive director on several Boards of Directors, including Eurobank Ergasias and Ageas, and was a proposed member for the Carige Bank board in 2018. In 2020, Reichlin ascended to the position of Chair of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). Her influence is also acknowledged within her peer community, earning her the Birgit Grodal Award in 2016 and the Serena Medal from the British Academy in 2021. Reichlin's expertise has also been sought after on a global scale, as demonstrated by her appointment to the G20 High-Level Independent Panel on financing the global commons for pandemic preparedness and response in 2021.

Reichlin's insights are not confined to boardrooms and classrooms. As a regular contributor to Project Syndicate since 2014 and a columnist for "Il Corriere della Sera," her perspectives reach a broad audience. She has also made significant contributions to the field of econometric methods and monetary economics, including the design of the Eurocoin index, which measures economic activity for the euro area. This breadth and depth of experience, combined with her innovative approach to economics and her ability to communicate complex ideas, position Reichlin as a thought leader in her field.
