Luke Combs is a hit music singer and songwriter whose country music masterpieces have graced the billboard top 100 countless number of times. A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Combs has been singing since he could walk, but did not start playing guitar until the summer after his junior year at Appalachian State University. When he was just shy of earning his degree, he dropped out of college. After gigging regularly in North Carolina, he headed to Nashville in 2014 to pursue a musical career.
Combs released his first EP, "The Way She Rides," in February 2014, and has gone on to produce chart toppers ever since. In 2015, Combs' first single, "Hurricane", sold 15,000 copies in the first week, and debuted at No. 46 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. When "Hurricane" was re-released after Combs signed with Sony Music Nashville, the song reached No. 1 on the Country Radio airplay charts on May 15, 2017, holding that spot for 2 weeks. Combs has gone on to produce 11 #1 hits, as of 2021, including “When It Rains It Pours,” “One Number Away," “She Got the Best of Me,” “Beer Never Broke My Heart" and "Beautiful Crazy." "Beautiful Crazy" spent seven straight weeks at number one on Country Airplay, breaking the previous records for longevity on the charts. The single also helped Combs earn the distinction of being the first artist to simultaneously hold the top position on all five of Billboard's main country charts: Top Country Albums, Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, Country Streaming Songs, and Country Digital Song Sales. The song's success is largely responsible for Combs receiving a Grammy Nomination for Best New Artist in 2019. On June 11, 2019, he was invited to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry.
