Lydia Makaroff is the CEO at Fight Bladder Cancer, a UK-based bladder cancer charity founded and governed by bladder cancer survivors and their families. She specializes in public policy and people management, with global experience in Australia, the USA, and Europe.

Fight Bladder Cancer supports everyone affected by bladder cancer, raises awareness, supports medical research, and campaigns to improve policy. The charity’s aim is to achieve better outcomes and quality of life for all those affected by bladder cancer.

Makaroff is currently responsible for the day-to-day operations of Fight Bladder Cancer, managing diverse teams, producing policy papers, designing multi-year strategies, fundraising, launching major projects, presenting at international congresses, and writing articles for journals and magazines. She is skilled in business development, and has broad knowledge of the economics, epidemiology, and public health impact of non-communicable diseases.

Prior to working with Fight Bladder Cancer, Makaroff was director of the European Cancer Patient Coalition, a board member of Pancreatic Cancer Europe, and the public health manager at the International Diabetes Federation.
