Lynda Gratton
Human Resources Thought Leader, Author of "The Shift: The Future of Work is Already Here" & "The 100-Year Life: Living and Working in an Age of Longevity"
Lynda Gratton has emerged as one of the most influential thought leaders on the progression of talent and work practices. Serving as the Professor of Management Practice at London Business School, she is also the founder of the Hot Spots Movement and, more recently, HSM Advisory, a specialized research and consulting team that builds a bridge between academia and business. Gratton has contributed significantly to the field through her numerous books and academic articles, and she is renowned as one of the world's authorities on people in organizations.
For six consecutive years, Gratton has been recognized by Thinkers50 as one of the most influential business experts today. In 2007, The Times ranked her as one of the Top 20 Business Thinkers in the world, and in 2008, The Financial Times selected her as the business thinker most likely to make a significant difference over the next decade. Her influence has also been recognized by Human Resources Magazine, ranking her as number one in their "Top 25 HR Most Influential UK Thinkers 2011" poll. More recently, she was appointed as a Fellow of the World Economic Forum and has chaired the WEF Council on Leadership. She is also an influential figure in the Drucker Prize panel and the Governing Body of the London Business School.
Gratton's book "Living Strategy," originally published in 2000, has been translated into more than 15 languages and has been commended by US CEOs as one of the most important books of the year. Her book "The Democratic Enterprise" has been highlighted by the Financial Times as a work of significant scholarship, providing insightful projections into how companies will evolve in the coming decades. Notably, her book "The 100-Year Life: Living and Working in an Age of Longevity" was shortlisted for the 2016 Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award. Over the years, she has added to this impressive bibliography, authoring books on a range of topics from strategic human resource management to the keys to a 100-year life.
Throughout her career, Gratton has received numerous accolades for her research and writing. In 2002, her article "Integrating the Enterprise," which explored cooperative strategies, was awarded the MIT Sloan Management Review best article of the year. Her 2005 case study of BP's peer assist integration practices won the ECC Best Strategy Case of the Year award and went on to win the Best Case of the Year. She added to this in 2012 with the FT & Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award. Gratton actively advises companies worldwide, including giants like Vodafone, Shell, and Unilever, and is an Advisor for @GoogleOrg's initiative helping people prepare for the changing nature of work.
Gratton's influence extends beyond academia and business, with her being appointed as a Senior Fellow of the UK's Advanced Institute of Management Practice in 2004. In addition to being the founding director of the Lehman Centre for Women in Business at the London Business School, she was also invited by Prime Minister Abe of Japan to join the "Council for Designing the 100-year-life Society". Her work has garnered international attention, and she continues to share her insights on future work trends through her personal website and blog, Future of Work.
