Machine Gun Kelly
Grammy-Nominated Musician, Songwriter & Actor Known for "Lonely Road," "my ex's best friend" & "Bad Things"
Machine Gun Kelly is a musician, actor, and songwriter known for his genre-blending style. Raised in various locations due to his parents’ frequent relocations, he settled in Cleveland, Ohio, where he developed his passion for music. His early exposure to hip-hop and punk rock influenced his unique sound, blending rap with rock and alternative elements. MGK first gained national attention with his mixtapes, leading to a recording deal with Bad Boy and Interscope Records.
His debut studio album, "Lace Up," was released on October 9, 2012, and debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard 200. This was followed by his second studio album, "General Admission," in late September 2015. His growing versatility as an artist was showcased in his album "Bloom," and the single “Bad Things,” a collaboration with Camila Cabello, became a commercial success, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying his place in the music industry.
In 2020, MGK made a significant shift in his career with the release of his fifth album, "Tickets to My Downfall," produced by Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. This album marked his full transition into pop-punk. It includes the hit single "Bloody Valentine" and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. MGK has continued on this path with his recent album, "Mainstream Sellout," released in 2022. In 2024, he released the single "Lonely Road" with Jelly Roll.
Beyond music, MGK has also ventured into acting with notable roles in films such as "The Dirt," where he portrayed Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, "Beyond the Lights," "Nerve," and "Bird Box." He also co-directed and starred in the film "Good Mourning," released in 2022.
MGK has received significant awards and nominations throughout his career, including winning the "Best Midwest Artist" at the 2010 Underground Music Awards and MTV's "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2011". On March 18, 2012, he won the MTVu Breaking Woodie award. He also won the American Music Awards for Favorite Rock Artist in 2021 and 2022 and was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards in 2023 for "Mainstream Sellout."
