Maddison Michelle "Maddie" Bowman is a retired American freestyle skier renowned for her achievements in halfpipe skiing. She began skiing at the age of two, developing her skills at Sierra-at-Tahoe, her home mountain.

Bowman gained prominence in the freestyle skiing community with a silver medal in the superpipe at the 2012 Winter X Games. She then secured gold medals in the superpipe at the Winter X Games in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018.

Her most notable achievement came at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, where she won the inaugural gold medal in women's ski halfpipe. In the final, Bowman executed two 900s and two 720s, earning a top score of 89.00 points.

Bowman continued to compete at a high level, participating in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, where she finished 11th in the halfpipe event.

After a distinguished career, Bowman announced her retirement from competitive halfpipe skiing in January 2020 at the age of 26. She cited a desire to explore other aspects of skiing and to focus on her mental health and well-being.

Throughout her career, Bowman was celebrated for her technical prowess and contributions to the progression of women's freestyle skiing. Her legacy includes not only her competitive successes but also her role as a mentor and advocate for the sport.
