Chef Madison Cowan is a hands-on dad, author, entrepreneur and former street resident with roots in London, Jamaica and Detroit. In 2004, after receiving four stars from The Times in London, he established Madison Cowan LLC, a global culinary production company that oversees operations in licensing and consulting, cookery demonstration, television production and mobile clandestine dining that has reached throughout Africa, Europe, Japan and South America. Madison has catered to jazz legend Lionel Hampton, singer and human rights activist Odetta, actors Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Anderson, rapper and MC Mos Def, director Woody Allen, fashion icon Donna Karan, playwright Lanford Wilson, former NYC Mayor David Dinkins and President Bill Clinton. He credits his mother’s influence as the spring-board to his culinary experience:

    She made certain I knew my way round the kitchen. I believe she never wanted me to depend on anyone for a meal as others depended on her.

In 2010 Food Network selected him as a contestant for their hit Primetime series Chopped where he competed and won three consecutive episodes to become the first ever Grand Champion. Following in 2012, he was victorious in an epic battle on the network classic Iron Chef America and currently co-stars on BBC America’s exciting new travel series No Kitchen Required. Madison has also written his first book, Soul Voyage which chronicles several of his journeys and philosophy of cooking from the soul, no matter the ingredients. Affectionately known as the Chef of The People, he has signed on with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Chefs Move To Schools campaign in an effort to provide nutritional guidance and education from professional chefs to public schools nationwide. Madison currently resides in New York with his wife, daughter and their family dog.
