Majid Rafizadeh is an Iranian Syrian scholar, Middle East expert, and human rights activist. He is president and director of the International American Council on the Middle East and formerly served as ambassador for the National Iranian American Council.
Rafizadeh came to the US on a Fulbright teaching scholarship and has taught at the University of California-Santa Barbara, Damascus University, and Islamic Azad University, among others. He conducted research at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and has appeared as a trilingual media commentator - speaking English, Arabic, and Persian - on broadcasts including CNN, BBC, France 24, Sky News, ETV, ENEWS, Russian International English TV, and Voice of America to discuss topics related to Syria, Iran, US foreign policy, democratization, human rights, and the Middle East.
Rafizadeh is a contributing editor for The Harvard International Review and has written for The New York Times, The New York Times International Weekly, The Nation, The Huffington Post, USA Today, The Economic Times, Jerusalem Post, Haaretz, Jadaliyya, Al Akhbar, Foreign Policy, Yale Journal of International Affairs, George Washington Journal of International Affairs Review, and Georgetown Journal of International Affairs, to name a few.
Majid Rafizadeh is a frequent guest policy analyst on international and US news shows. He also speaks at panel discussions, universities, and interfaith gatherings on human rights, democratization, and reforms. His interviews and works have been translated into French, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, and Russian, among other languages. He speaks English, Arabic, Persian, French, Hebrew, and Dari.
