Manos Antoninis has been the Director of the Global Education Monitoring Report since August 2017. For the six previous years, he was responsible for the monitoring section of the report, a period during which he coordinated the financing gap estimates for the 2030 education targets, global projections on the achievement of universal primary and secondary education, and the World Inequality Database on Education. He has also represented the report as a member of technical groups on education indicators for Sustainable Development Goal 4. He has worked as a public finance, monitoring and evaluation expert in education sector projects in Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Pakistan.

Antoninis holds a BA in International Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business and an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Oxford. His DPhil was a study of technical education and the labour market in Egypt, completed at the Centre for the Study of African Economies of the University of Oxford.
