Marc Marcel
Motivational Spoken Word Artist; Creator of "Gurus" & Author of "The Book That Doesn't Even Matter"
Marc Marcel has earned a reputation as one of the most consciously aware spoken word artists of our generation, captivating audiences worldwide with his thought-provoking performances and deep metaphysical insights. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Marcel was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 10—a challenge that became a driving force behind his creativity and determination. Far from letting this diagnosis define him, Marcel transformed his struggles into strengths, using his art to express profound ideas about existence, consciousness, and the nature of reality.
Marcel’s journey is one of resilience and transcendence. He has traveled to over 150 U.S. cities and performed in eight countries, delivering powerful spoken word performances infused with philosophical depth. His work pushes boundaries, blending spirituality, metaphysics, and personal experiences into a transformative experience for his audiences. Widely regarded as a leading voice in the psychedelic community, Marcel’s extensive experience with DMT and other psychedelics has deeply influenced his art, helping him craft narratives that explore the meaning of life, the cosmos, and our connection to the divine. This influence is especially evident in his seminal work, "The Book That Doesn’t Even Matter," where he invites readers to look beyond the surface of reality and remember what they already know but have forgotten.
In addition to his philosophical writings, Marcel has broken new ground in the world of animation. He is the creator and animator of Gurus (www.theguruschannel.com), an innovative series that satirizes history’s greatest philosophers, bringing wisdom to life through humor and creativity. Gurus represents the intersection of his artistic talents and intellectual curiosity, showcasing his ability to blend metaphysical inquiry with entertainment.
Marcel’s accomplishments are as vast as they are impressive. He has published five books, produced 20 spoken word albums, and created over 20 poetry collections. His performances have graced over 50 universities, including prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Yale. He has also made five national television appearances and entertained U.S. troops stationed at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Among his many honors, Marcel was invited to perform at the Smithsonian’s 2009 Presidential Inaugural Peace Ball for President Obama, a testament to his impact and influence.
Beyond the stage, Marcel’s life is filled with remarkable experiences that have shaped his worldview. From spending Christmas in a Mexican jail for trespassing on the Tulum Mayan Ruins during the historic 2012 winter solstice, to surviving a near-death experience when the engine of a commercial airliner exploded, these events have left indelible marks on his art. His poetry, writings, and performances often reflect these profound moments of vulnerability and enlightenment, offering audiences a raw and authentic glimpse into his world.
Marc Marcel is a testament to the power of positive thought and perseverance. He has overcome the limitations of his learning disability to become one of the most important thinkers and artists of our time. Through his spoken word, animation, and written works, Marc Marcel invites his audience to journey with him—beyond the surface of existence, into the deeper realms of consciousness and understanding.
