is president of the National Center on Education and the Economy, a leader in the movement for standards-based school reform in the United States. Tucker created the Commission on the Skills of the American Workforce and co-authored its report, America’s Choice: High Skills or Low Wages! Other publications include A Nation Prepared: Teachers for the 21st Century; Thinking for a Living: Education and the Wealth of Nations, with Ray Marshall; and Standards for Our Schools: How to Set Them, Measure Them, and Reach Them, with Judy Codding. Tucker also created the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

NCEE’s Marc Tucker Quoted in New York Times and Wall Street Journal
Marc Tucker, president and CEO of the National Center on Education and the Economy, was recently featured in a column by New York Times opinion writer Joe Nocera. In the article, Tucker offers his insight on the state of teachers in America in light of the Chicago Teachers Union strike. “We have to find a way to work with teachers and unions while at the same time working to greatly raise the quality of teachers,” says Tucker. Often a valuable resource for journalists and authors across the country, Tucker was also quoted in a recent Wall Street Journal article and had an op-ed, originally published by The Hechinger Report, picked up by Newsday.
