Marcos Ambrose
Race Car Driver; Two-Time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Winner; Australian V8 Supercar Champion
The son of a race car driver, Marcos Ambrose had racing in his blood. Raised in Launceston, in Tasmania, Australia, Ambrose began racing karts at the age of 10 and won over 10 state karting titles before becoming the Australian Karting champion in 1995. He remains the only driver to have a victory in every V8 Supercar season in which he has participated.
Ambrose made the decision to move to the United States and try his hand in NASCAR in 2006. With assistance from Ford, Ambrose concentrated his efforts on NASCARs premier series in 2009. Ambrose put together an impressive rookie season that year and scored four top-five and seven top-10 finishes in the Sprint Cup Series. Although he scored two top-five and five top-10 finishes, 2010 was a frustrating season for Ambrose and he announced that he would join Richard Petty Motorsports in 2011.
2011 marked Ambroses best season to-date competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. With Crew Chief Todd Parrott atop the pit box, Ambrose added a Sprint Cup Series win to his resume with a victory at Watkins Glen in August. After leading more laps than any other driver but not taking a victory in his precious four attempts at the track, Ambrose recovered from a collision to win the Montreal Nationwide Series race that same week. Overall, the Todd Parrott led team ended in the 2011 season in 19th position in the point standings and scored five top-five and 12 top 10 finishes.
At the half-way point of the 2012 season, Ambrose has earned four Top-10 finishes, two poles, and set a new track record at Michigan International Speedway, claiming the distinction of becoming the fastest man in NASCAR in 25 years.
Ambrose spends his time away from the circuit helping the next generation of drivers to get on the fast track to racing success. Marcos Ambrose Motorsport is his two-car, late model race team focused on mentoring and developing skills of talented young drivers at and away from the track.
