Two-Time NAACP Image Award-Winning Actor Known for ABC's "Black-ish" & Founder of Scribner Productions
Marcus Scribner is a multi-hyphenated next-gen actor and producer. He’s best known for his first series regular role on ABC's groundbreaking hit comedy series "Black-ish” starring as ‘Andre Jr.’ opposite Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross – a role he landed at only 13-years-old. Since its premiere in September 2014, the series has received both critical acclaim and awards recognition year after year, including winning a prestigious Peabody Award in 2015. Over the 8-season tenure, which concluded in April 2022, Marcus has been nominated for multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice, NAACP Image and Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the ensemble cast, and has gone on win two individual NAACP Image Awards for his outstanding performance in the series.
This year, Marcus added leading man to his resume when he went on to star in Freeform’s most popular spin-off comedy series, “Grown-ish” following Yara Shahidi’s graduation from the series. The fifth season is currently airing on Freeform and Hulu, and will return in early 2023.
Next, Marcus will appear in the indie drama feature “How To Blow Up a Pipeline,” which premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival to rave reviews. Helmed by director Daniel Goldhaber and adapted from Andreas Malm’s non-fiction book of the same name, the timely feature film centers around a diverse group of climate change activists who set to blow up a Texas pipeline to disrupt the oil trade. Marcus stars alongside an all-star ensemble cast, which includes Ariela Barer, Sasha Lane, Jayme Lawson, Lukas Gage, Kristen Froseth, and Jake Weary.
Earlier this year, Marcus appeared in the Netflix’s young adult film “Along for the Ride” alongside Emma Pasarow, Belmont Cameli, Laura Kariuki, Kate Bosworth, Dermot Mulroney, and Andie MacDowell. His other film credits include “Farewell Amor” (which showcased at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival), Awesomeness Film’s “The F* It List” (2020), college set thriller “Confessional” (2019), and the teen comedy film, “Alexander IRL” (2017),
Recently, Marcus can be heard as ‘D’Angelo Baker’ in DreamWorks’ animated series, “Dragons: The Nine Realms.” His other voiceover work includes Twentieth Century Studios’ “Ron’s Gone Wrong” (2021), DreamWorks’ “She-Ra and The Princess of Power” (2018-2020), Netflix’s “Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh” (2016-2017), and Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” (2015), among others.
A passionate humanitarian, Marcus can be found traveling the globe to give back to the people around him and the world. He serves as an ambassador for Defend Our Future, a project of the Environmental Defense Fund that is dedicated to empowering young people of all political persuasions who are interested in advancing climate change and clean energy solutions. He also serves as the Chief Youth Innovator for Reserve Protection Agency in South Africa, helping to protect Africa's beautiful animals. In November 2019, he was also honored by the National Foster Youth Institute for his work raising awareness about underserved foster youth.
Marcus was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, where he currently resides.
