As former Senior Vice President of News Coverage for CBS, Marcy A. McGinnis decided which stories aired on CBS News. She oversaw the network’s worldwide news gathering and hard news coverage - including breaking news and crisis coverage - as well as the operation of all bureaus.

McGinnis was at the helm as CBS reported the tragedy of 9/11 and the subsequent war in Afghanistan. She oversaw the organization, coordination, and execution of coverage of the war with Iraq. A winner of three Emmy Awards for CBS News’s coverage of the death of Princess Diana, McGinnis is an experienced professional who has earned great respect and high acclaim for her breadth of accomplishments in media.

After 30 years of working her way up the CBS hierarchy, McGinnis speaks with firm authority on what it takes to reach the upper echelons of power in business and media, and that leadership in a diverse society is about excellence, enthusiasm, expectations, and empathy.
