A talented, established, Emmy-winning actress on stage, film and television, Marg Helgenberger is best known for her roles in the television dramas CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and China Beach.

Helgenberger earned a degree in drama at Northwestern University and was recruited from there to work on the soap opera Ryan's Hope, where she appeared over the course of the next four years.

Throughout the 90s, Helgenberger starred in numerous made-for-television movies and was a guest star on several television series. In particular, she frequently appeared in movies made specifically for Lifetime and Showtime, receiving critical acclaim for In Sickness and in Health, Thanks of a Grateful Nation, and Perfect Murder, Perfect Town: JonBenét and the City of Boulder.

Helgenberger won an Emmy for her portrayal of a hard-bitten prostitute who catered to Vietnam War soldiers in the series China Beach. She also played George Clooney's love interest in a multi-episode arc of the monumentally successful television series ER.

In feature films, Helgenberger has appeared in Tootsie, Species, In Good Company, and in Steven Spielberg's Always. Her greatest claim to fame on the silver screen was her role opposite Julia Roberts as a chemical exposure victim in the popular movie Erin Brockovich.

Most recognized for her television role as a crime scene investigator in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Helgenberger shared in CSI's 2005 Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series.

In 2019, she starred opposite of Dennis Quaid in "A Dog's Journey," a sequel to "A Dog's Purpose."

In her personal life, Helgenberger is the daughter of a cancer survivor and is very active in supporting research for breast cancer. Helgenberger's commitment to the fight against breast cancer started at the community level many years ago when she and her ex-husband, Alan Rosenberg, began hosting ‘Marg and Alan’s Celebrity Weekend,’ an annual event designed to both raise money for breast cancer research and celebrate those who have beaten the disease. Activities over the years have included a celebrity golf tournament, poker tournament, silent auctions, and a brunch to honor breast cancer survivors.
