Maria Claudia Lacouture is the president of ProColombia (previously known as Proexport), the government agency in charge of promoting non-traditional Colombian exports, foreign investment, and international tourism. She started her career at Proexport as an intern in 1996 and has worked significantly to improve Colombia’s image abroad ever since. Before becoming president of ProColombia in 2010, she was ProColombia’s senior manager for manufacturing products in the U.S., then Director of Tourism in the U.S., and also managed Colombia’s branding program. She is a specialist in finance and international relations with a master's degree in economics and marketing from Cornell University.
