Journalist for MSNBC & NBC News; Former Co-Host of "Fusion Live"

Mariana Atencio is a next generation, globetrotting journalist working for MSNBC and NBC News. Her reports focus on Latinos, millennials, social justice and global youth unrest reporting from the ground in Haiti, Venezuela, Ferguson, Mexico and Hong Kong.

She formerly co-hosted “Fusion Live” on the ABC News/Univision joint venture Fusion, where she provided young viewers with news and commentary on the issues of the day. She has also covered Ferguson, immigration and the protests in Venezuela.

Prior to Fusion, Atencio was a correspondent for Univision, where she won a Gracie Award for directing for a documentary on press freedom in Latin America. She also won Univision’s first Peabody Award for “Fast and Furious”, a documentary on “Operation Fast and Furious”. Atencio is from Venezuela and immigrated here on a scholarship from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

She has won a Peabody Award, an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award and a Gracie Award.
