Founder of Ethnic Marketing Solutions; Supporting Latina Professional Women

An expert in developing strategic approaches to marketing in a multicultural environment, Marilyn Alverio is most noted for her work as the former National Director of Ethnic Marketing for a Fortune 100 company. She focused on sales, relationship management and brand marketing initiatives to Latino, African American and women business owners.

She brings to the table invaluable insights into the corporate environment and has laid the groundwork to increase and retain business in ethnic markets for numerous companies around the country. A 20-year veteran in sales and management, she has worked within the financial services, health, airline and pharmaceutical industry, garnering and applying her vast cache of knowledge all the while meeting and exceeding sales objectives.

As a speaker on issues related to targeting multicultural markets, increasing awareness on diversity issues, leadership and other related topics, Alverio is known for her candid and relaxed approach, which becomes an asset to any setting. She also offers expertise in producing and presenting a variety of workshops, seminars and symposiums.

After 25 years in the corporate environment, the University of Connecticut graduate expanded her reach once more and in early 2003 entered the entrepreneur world by establishing Ethnic Marketing Solutions, LLC.

The Hartford-based company is a forefront organization specializing in multicultural market strategy, e-business practices, sales/product development, event marketing and capacity building for nonprofit organizations. She completed her MBA at the University of Phoenix where she focused on research projects related to multicultural markets.

Alverio has been active in the Connecticut community for more than thirty years and currently serves on the executive committee for the Connecticut Health Foundation board of directors, the World Affairs Council, co-chair of the Spanish American Merchants Association Marketing team, advisory committee for the Urban League of Greater Hartford and advisor on United Way of Greater Hartford marketing committee.

Her work as the founder and producer of the Latinas and Power Symposium has enjoyed significant success. The model, launched in 2004, brings market opportunities, products, and services together with Latina professional women from around New England. The day-long event offers participants and corporate sponsors an opportunity to meet goals in the areas of diversity recruiting, promoting products and services, cultivating relationships, networking and enhancing brand equity within this market segment.

Currently, Alverio works for MassMutual in Enfield CT. where she is a member of the Workplace Solutions marketing team. She volunteers for MassMutual’s “Leading with Diversity” manager training program several times a year and speaks at numerous national events on the topic of Diversity & Inclusion and Women & Leadership.
