Marjan van Aubel        

Award-Winning Solar Designer

Marjan van Aubel is an award-winning solar designer who promotes energy efficiency through her designs. Her innovative practice spans the fields of sustainability, design, and technology. She collaborates with scientists, engineers, and organizations like Swarovski and ECN.TNO, the Dutch Energy Centre, and others. In 2019, van Aubel gave a TED talk called "The beautiful future of solar power." Swarovski named her the Designer of the Future in 2017.

In 2016, she was the recipient of WIRED's Innovation Award, the Wallpaper Design Award, and Neelie Kroes selected her to be the Racicale Vernieuwer (Radical Pioneer) Netherlands. She won the London Design festival Emerging Talent medal in 2015 and in 2012 van Aubel received the First Prize Dutch Material Award. She founded the award-winning sustainable design collective, Caventou.

She is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and the Rietveld Academy DesignLAB.
