Mark A. R. Kleiman is a professor of public policy at the University of California, Los Angeles Luskin School of Public Affairs. He is a nationally recognized expert on crime and drug policy who advised Washington State on legalization of retail marijuana sales. He is co-editor of the Journal of Drug Policy Analysis and organizer of The Reality-Based Community, a group blog. Kleiman is chairman of BOETEC Analysis Corporation, a Massachusetts-based company that consults on drug policy. He is also member of the Committee on Law and Justice of the National Research Council. His books include "When Brute Force Fails: How to Have Less Crime and Less Punishment" and "Against Excess: Drug Policy for Results."
