Mark Jude Tramo is director of UCLA’s Institute for Music and Brain Science, and a professor in the Neurology Department of the David Geffen School of Medicine and in the Ethnomusicology Department of the Herb Alpert School of Music. A songwriter, Tramo is currently touring science museums throughout the US as part of the Wild Music exhibit. Tramo has been conducting original research on the functional neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of music perception and cognition for over 20 years. He has received numerous awards for research and patient care, including recognition from Best Doctors in America for seven consecutive years for his work at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. Before coming to UCLA, Tramo taught at Harvard University, served on the steering committee of the Mind, Brain, and Behavior Interfaculty Initiative and received the provost’s award for Educational Innovation.
