Mark Nepo has moved and inspired millions of people with his No. 1 New York Times bestseller "The Book of Awakening," a spiritual daybook that draws on his awakening through cancer to offer life lessons from all the spiritual traditions. Known for his profound insights into spirituality and resilience, Nepo has published twenty-three books and recorded sixteen audio projects. His recent works include "Surviving Storms" (2022) and "The Book of Soul," with the latter being honored by Spirituality & Practice as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2020.
Having taught in the fields of poetry, health, and spirituality for over 40 years, Nepo keynotes regularly for notable venues such as Chautauqua Institution, Omega Institute, and Sun Valley Wellness Festival. He works with healing and medical communities, including chaplains and therapists, speaks at colleges and universities, and leads spiritual retreats. His presentations, infused with instructions on how to return to what matters in life and how to maintain relationships, teach attendees how to live wholeheartedly and find their own wisdom.
In 1987, Nepo was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma, an experience that has deeply influenced his work and teaching. A survivor of lymphoma, he explores the common center and unity of all spiritual traditions in his work, focusing on how to experience unity by fully engaging in life. As a bestselling author, his accolades include receiving numerous awards like AgeNation’s Life-Achievement Award and being named one of the “100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People” by Watkins: Mind Body Spirit. Nepo has appeared several times with Oprah Winfrey on her "Super Soul Sunday" program on OWN TV and has been interviewed by Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America." His voice resonates through his books and teachings, offering a deep understanding of the power of the human soul and the importance of embracing our imperfections to connect deeply with others.
