Miami Hurricanes Head Football Coach, Devout Christian

Mark Richt is the head coach at the University of Miami and former college player and National Football League player. Richt played at the University of Miami from 1978–1982 and briefly spent time with the Denver Broncos.

After his time with the Broncos, Richt began his coaching career at the Florida State. Soon after he was hired as an offensive coordinator at East Carolina University. One year later, Richt returned to Florida State to serve as the Seminoles’ quarterback coach. He was soon promoted to offensive coordinator.

In December of 2000, University President Michael Adams and then Athletic Director Coach Vince Dooley came to Tallahassee and interviewed Richt for the position of Head Coach of the UGA Bulldogs.

During his seven years as offensive coordinator, the Seminoles ranked in the nation’s top five scoring offenses for five seasons, they were top twelve in total offense for five seasons, and top twelve in passing offense for five seasons.

In 2001, Richt was hired to coach the Georgia Bulldogs. During his tenure teams won two Southeastern Conference (SEC) championships (2002 and 2005), six SEC Eastern Division titles (2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2012), and nine bowl games.

Richt was announced as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes in 2015.
