Mark Walsh  

Mark is the Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of VerticalNet, Inc., and has been in the interactive services/internet industry for 15 years.

Mark joined VerticalNet in August 1997 as President and CEO, and was appointed to Chairman in July 2000.VerticalNet is the Internet's only owner and operator of industrial trade communities with 57 live today. The sites offer community, commerce, collaboration and industry-specific information and services. It currently maintains verticals in the pollution controls, chemical processing, food processing, advanced technology, healthcare supply, financial service, automotive supply and other businesses and industries. It has over 1,500 employees worldwide, with offices throughout the US, and in London, TelAviv, and Tokyo.

Previously, he was a Senior VP and Corporate Officer at America Online. He ran AOL Enterprise, the business-to-business division of AOL. He founded the group.

Prior to AOL, Mark was the President of GEnie, the online service owned by GE market. Until early 1993, Mark was head of interactive services at CUC International. He worked in the cable television business, with four years at Home Box Office in New York. He graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA, and Union College in Schenectady NY. After graduating from college, Mark was the anchorman and news director for a CBS TV affiliate station, WDTV-TV.

Mark serves as a board member of the Software and Information Industry Association, is on the President's Advisory Group of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Standard for Internet Commerce. He also serves on a number of corporate and not for profit boards, including Union College, New York Times Digital, Worldwide Angler, and Investor Broadcast Network, amongst others.
