Motivational Comedian

Called “the reigning queen of comedy” by the Canadian press, Marla Lukofsky is thirty-year veteran has performed stand-up in every major North American city. She has been a member of Second City, represented Canada at the International Comedy Festival in the UK; appeared in numerous television productions including Evening At The Improv, Seeing Things, Doc, and Midday with Valerie Pringle. She has written for Basic Black and The Vicki Gabereau Show and was the last word columnist for CBC’s Midday. A popular television and radio guest she has appeared on CBC Radio and Television, CHFI, CTV, CITY and GLOBAL. Lukofsky is the voice of Good Luck Bear on The Care Bears.

In Los Angeles in 1998, Lukofsky was diagnosed with breast cancer, taking her life on an unexpected turn. A lumpectomy and lymph node removal were followed by aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments ending in 1999. Following her recovery, Lukofsky’s father died suddenly and within two years she lost her mother as well. “After being my biggest supporter, my brave mother lost her own battle with cancer. I’m doing my best to move forward by sharing my message of courage and humor.” She has penned a collection of short poems and is putting the finishing touches on her memoir recounting her cancer journey with honesty, humor and compassion.

Lukofsky’s talks are “funny and moving”, rich in wisdom, “poignant and meaningful”. Women’s College Hospital called it a “useful educational tool that also stands on its own as a brilliant piece of entertainment” and “deserves to be heard by as broad an audience as possible.” Lukofsky’s skill and energy as a seasoned performer combined with her sincerity, humor and confidence fuel a hilarious, and sometimes shocking but always passionate performance.
