Marshall Brain is an author, college instructor and computer programmer, best known as the founder of How Stuff Works, which is a commercial infotainment website that provides its target audience an insight into the way many things work.

Brian started started HowStuffWorks as a hobby in 1998 and it has grown to be one of the top Web sites in the country. In 2007 Discovery Communications purchased for $250 million. He is also well known as the host of the show Factory Floor, which appeared on the National Geographic channel.

Brian is also an accomplished author and is known for his Robotic Nation essays and the book Manna. Manna is a 2003 science fiction essay by Marshall Brain that explores several issues in modern information technology and user interfaces, including some around transhumanism.

He haa appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, the Dr. Oz show, CNN, MSNBC, Modern Marvels and other popular shows. he has also been interviewed for hundreds of different newspaper articles, magazine articles and radio shows.

Today he is a writer, a well-known national speaker and a consultant. He is also the Director of the Engineering Entrepreneurs Program at North Carolina State University. He is an active participant in the entrepreneurial community in the Research Triangle Park as a mentor, coach, consultant and adviser. Brian is on the board of directors for and The Walking Classroom.
