Marta Vieira da Silva, commonly known as simply Marta, is a Brazilian soccer player for the Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League in the United States in addition to playing on the Brazilian national team.

Marta is a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for women and girls in sport, recognized for her lifelong commitment to challenging stereotypes, overcoming barriers, and inspiring other women and girls to do the same. She demonstrates both through her own life story and through sport how women and girls can develop life skills, self-knowledge, and leadership, role-modeling how persistence brings rewards. Marta is also one of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals Advocates.

Marta is widely regarded as the best female soccer player of all time, having been named FIFA World Player of the Year six times and having won silver medals at both the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. With 17 goals, Marta holds the record for most goals scored at FIFA World Cup tournaments.

In January 2013, Marta was named as one of the six Ambassadors of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, alongside Amarildo, Bebeto, Carlos Alberto Torres, Ronaldo, and Mario Zagallo.
