Martina McBride is a country music singer-songwriter often called the Celine Dion of Country Music for her big-voiced ballads and soprano range. She signed to RCA Records in 1991, making her debut the following year with the single "The Time Has Come." Over the years, she has released fourteen studio albums, two greatest hits compilations, and one "live" album, with eight of her studio albums and two of her compilations receiving an RIAA Gold certification or higher. Notable successes include her third album, "Wild Angels," which produced her first No. 1 single on the country charts, and her album, "Evolution," which generated four more Top 10 country radio hits. She has sold over 18 million albums in the U.S. alone.
McBride has been acknowledged numerous times for her musical contributions, winning the Country Music Association Award for Female Vocalist of the Year four times and the Academy of Country Music's "Top Female Vocalist" award three times. She is also a 14-time Grammy Award nominee. Outside of her musical accomplishments, McBride has hosted Middle Tennessee's YWCA "Celebrity Auction" annually and has served as a spokeswoman for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. In 2003, she was awarded the "Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award" for her contributions to society.
McBride has also made several public appearances, including performing at the Stand Up 2 Cancer Telethon in September 2010 alongside big names like Leona Lewis, Aaron Neville, and Stevie Wonder. She also made a move into other media avenues, launching a show on Food Network and releasing the cookbook "Martina's Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life" in 2018. Furthermore, she started the podcast "Vocal Point" in 2019 and appeared on NBC's "Songland," releasing the song "Girls Like Me" in 2020. Despite her varied interests and endeavors, music remains her core.
