U.S. Senate Chief of Staff; POSSE Foundation Alum & National Board Member; Presidential Leadership Scholar

Marvin B. Figueroa currently holds the position of Chief of Staff for Senator Lephonza Butler. Previously, he was the Director of the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In his role, he worked closely with various partners to fortify intergovernmental relationships as the Secretary of Health and Human Services' principal adviser, and served as the representative for the Secretary and the Administration at both state and local levels.

Prior to his time with IEA, Figueroa brought his expertise to the Administration of Governor Ralph S. Northam in Virginia, where he served as Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Resources. He also acted as Senior Advisor to Senator Mark R. Warner. Notably, he co-led the bipartisan Senate Finance Committee Chronic Care Working Group, a key initiative that led to the enactment of the bipartisan CHRONIC CARE Act of 2017.

Originally from La Ceiba, Honduras and raised in the Bronx, NY, Figueroa pursued higher education and received a Bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master's degree from Harvard. He is an alum of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and POSSE Foundation and now calls the Commonwealth of Virginia his home.
