By the time Mary Bounthalath was a student at National University of Laos , she had lead the team to initiate number of business plans and acquired the first place in the final round both in University and National Business Plan Contest. In 2008, Mary was elected to be a country representative among many youths across the nation to participate in Greater Mekong Sub-region Youth Forum. In this forum, she had a great opportunity to play roles of GMS activities, where she exchanged point of views, and received international perspective from other GMS youths on how they can move the region forward by strengthening the link, bridging the gab, and searching for the key to unlocking economic growth, which include the national and regional youth consultation and the caravans that travelled along three GMS economic corridors and ended in Vientiane in time for the submit. Together with six youth leaders, they presented the final message to the president of ADB while meeting with leaders from GMS countries.

After she graduated, she has stepped into managing her family business, Sinniyom Group as a Deputy Director, she has built various potential networking and establish partners with many sectors namely the Chairman of Gold Reach Resource, and the President of Kolao Developing Co., Consequently, these have made the contract to finally be signed regarding the purchase of more than 30 trucks to build several road construction projects granted to the company. As a result, it has created more than 60 jobs. In addition, in the year 2012, she has won the first prize on Mekong Woman Entrepreneurship Challenge; which is sponsored by World Bank, Ministry for Foreign Affair of Finland, InfoDev.
