Mary Flynn
Award-Winning Author
During her nearly fifteen-year Disney Institute career, Mary Flynn appeared before almost three-quarters-of-a-million professionals, many of them top executives and CEOs, often sharing a convention platform with speakers that ran the gamut from Malcolm Gladwell and a host of bestselling authors to Tony Robbins and the President of AOL. Her subjects ranged from Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence and Service Excellence to Disney’s Approach to Hiring and Training, Corporate Storytelling and Creativity.
Mary’s latest book release, “Disney’s Secret Sauce—the little-known factor behind the business world’s most legendary leadership,” offers a rare glimpse into yet another piece of Disney’s transformational thinking.
Prior to joining Disney, Mary held senior consultant positions with the two industry leaders in human resource management and leadership development. As a change management specialist, Mary conducted diagnostic assessment and provided executive coaching to high profile organizations across all industries, including healthcare, retail, telecommunications, energy, aerospace and insurance.
Mary earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Media and Communication from The State University of New York and has studied extensively in Ericksonian brief therapy. She is a certified practitioner in the field of Neuro-linguistic Programming, as well as a certified phobia counseling aide. Other certifications include Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Campbell Skills Inventory, DiSC, and Human Synergistics Individual and Organizational Assessment. For several years, she held the position of Administrative Manager of the largest free-circulation paper in the northeast.
Highly diverse and accomplished in an impressive variety of talents, Mary also launched a powerful debut novel, Margaret Ferry, which is enjoying five-star reviews on Amazon, and has been honored with a gold medal in fiction, a silver medal in religion, and a silver medal in Christian writing. She also hosted a live call-in radio show on Clear Channel in Orlando on the subject of career transition and professional development. She continues to speak nationally on Leadership.
Her observational humor has appeared in the Sunday New York Times, Newsday and other dailies and magazines, and she continues to receive accolades for her informative and entertaining presentation, “Confessions of a Hallmark Greeting Card Writer,” as well as her talks on Disney leadership, service, hiring and training.
Mary has written three illustrated children’s books, including Mrs. Peppel’s Pillows, which was a finalist in the Royal Palm Literary Awards Competition, as well as more than a dozen short stories, one of which, the award-winning Jeremiah’s Orchard, appears in The Saturday Evening Post’s 2014 Anthology of Great American Fiction.
She writes a blog for the Growing Bolder Media Group. She is a member of Florida Authors and Publishers Association, the Florida State Poet’s Association and The Florida Writers Association, where her program “The Writer as Presenter” was the highest rated conference offering.
