Physician and Serial Healthcare Entrepreneur, CEO & Founder of Advanced ICU Care

Dr. Mary Jo Gorman, CEO & Founder of Advanced ICU Care, is nationally recognized as a leader, innovator and pioneer in critical care medicine, with more than 20 years of clinical, healthcare management, and entrepreneurial experience. She focuses on expanding the utilization and impact of the company’s advanced telemedicine solutions and is a frequent speaker at industry events.

Prior to founding Advanced ICU Care and serving as its Chairman and CEO from 2006 until 2014, she served as the chief medical officer at IPC – The Hospitalist Company, where she developed programs to enhance clinical performance and patient care in hospitals across the U.S. A dedicated entrepreneur and business innovator, she was the founder and president of Inpatient Care Group, the first hospitalist services company in St. Louis, and Critical Services, Inc., which provides around-the-clock intensivist services at community hospitals.

Within the medical profession, Dr. Gorman has practiced as an intensivist and a hospitalist, and held numerous leadership positions locally and nationally in these specialties. A former president and six-year board member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, she was awarded the Master in Hospital Medicine in 2010 for her contributions in that field. She is a current member of the American College of Physician Executives, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Telemedicine Association.

In recognition of her leadership and entrepreneurial accomplishments, Dr. Gorman was named one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare in 2009, and selected for Ernst & Young’s 10 Entrepreneurial Winning Women in the United States in 2011. She was named among the Distinguished Alumni of the Olin School of Business by Washington University in 2013.

Dr. Gorman received her M.D. degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, her M.B.A. degree from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, and her B.A. degree in chemistry and biology (cum laude) from Saint Louis University. She obtained her board certifications in Critical Care Medicine and Internal Medicine.

She serves as Chairman of the Board of Marian Middle School. The St. Louis-based school breaks the cycle of poverty through the education and support of girls from challenging socio-economic backgrounds.
