Mary Thompson is a Managing Director for G100 BoardExcellence and works on program development. A former journalist, Mary joined G100 after 16 years as a reporter for CNBC, where she reported extensively on the banking and insurance industries as well as executive compensation. At CNBC, she covered a wide variety of major events, including the financial crisis, Hurricane Katrina, and several stock market crashes. She created, reported, and wrote the ongoing CNBC series, “Where the Jobs Are” and CNBC’s digi-documentary “The Bitcoin Uprising.” Her work appeared on other NBC properties, including NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, and MSNBC.

During her time at CNBC, Mary received the prestigious Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism for breaking news coverage of the Bernard Madoff scandal. In 2005, she received a National Headliner Award for her reporting on price fixing in the insurance industry.

Prior to joining CNBC, Mary worked for Bloomberg Radio and Television for eight years, covering the stock market and hosting special coverage of Federal Reserve meetings for Bloomberg TV. She started at Bloomberg as a print reporter covering banks and small retailers.

Mary holds a BA in English from the University of Notre Dame and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University.
