Marysol Castro

MLB’s First Latina PA Announcer; Broadcast Journalist

Marysol Castro has spent the last two decades challenging the TV news status quo as a journalist and host. While not ignoring the camera lens, Castro now focuses her talents behind the camera as a writer, producer and creator. Her latest creation is Somos, a show where Castro profiles Latinos of all walks of life. Smart, entertaining and insightful, Somos brings viewers a better understanding of Latinos in the arts, entertainment, sports and beyond.

From her humble beginnings in 2000 at News 12 The Bronx, to WPIX-TV in NYC, Castro honed her ability to think quickly and speak coherently in front of the nation’s most difficult viewers: New Yorkers. With serendipity and timing on her side, Castro would go on to anchor the weather at Good Morning America in 2003 for 7 years. In addition to greeting viewers each morning with the nation’s weather patterns, Castro honed her skills as an interviewer by profiling everyone from Tom Brady to Miley Cyrus to Colin Powell (though she rarely if ever asked them about weather). In 2010, Castro anchored weather at CBS’s The Early Show. She spent 2 years at ESPN as a Host and Sideline Reporter for the Little League World Series, Invictus Games and Premier Boxing Champions. Most recently Castro hosted the talk show The Daily Glow for digital media company Little Things.

Castro attended the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City and Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Because she is outnumbered, Castro runs a zone defense in her home with her 2 young sons.
