Sustainability Intrapreneur & Global Director, External Relations at Climeworks

Mathias Avramov holds the position of Global Director, External Relations at Climeworks, a leading company specializing in carbon removal solutions and direct air capture technology. In this role, he has led the communications, events, public relations and strategic planning groups as the company scaled from 200 to 500+ employees in less than two years. An intrapreneur dedicating his skills to sustainability, Avramov is known for building effective teams and practices from the ground up, scaling business operations, and structuring organizations for maximum impact fostering a culture of growth, productivity and responsibility.

Previously, Avramov modernized and scaled Global Marketing Operations at the oldest Swiss luxury watchmaker Vacheron Constantin, part of Richemont Group, before relocating to Taipei to serve as General Manager of the subsidiary. In Taipei, he led a rapid turnaround of the subsidiary in under a year, effectively navigating the uncertainties and new challenges posed by the Covid pandemic in Asia. Back at the Geneva headquarters, he spearheaded the overhaul of commercial policies, processes and tools with an agile taskforce, completing the transformation in under 6 months.

Avramov started his career at Procter & Gamble occupying various upstream and operational marketing positions in the luxury fragrance division, notably working on global brands such as Gucci fragrances and Hugo Boss, across Scandinavia and a wide portfolio of 40 markets in Greater Europe. At the early stage of his professional career, Avramov interned in advertising and event production agencies and consulted companies on brand and marketing topics while pursuing his master's degree in management at HEC Paris, from which he graduated in 2011.

With a passion for tech and innovation, Avramov founded his company Wittylabs while in college where he developed a mobile social recommendation app named 'Go4out'.

Avramov's strategic approach blends his need to understand how the world works, his appetite for data and insights, and love of economy topics with the world of ideas and thoughts stemming from his liberal arts and literature studies.
