In 2012, Mathias Haussmann founded Uepaa with Dr. Franck Legendre as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) headquartered in Zürich. Haussmann began his career as a Product Development Engineer at Sonova group. In 2003 he completed the Executive MBA in Glasgow alongside leading his first corporate venture as COO of Phonak Ear Care Systems. In 2004 he was awarded as Best Innovator by ATKaerney. In 2006 he joined the Biotronik group in a corporate development and strategy role. Two years later was leading his second corporate venture called Biolab Technology AG in Zürich, while leading a legal dispute in the US for Biotronik. In 2011 Mathias went powder skiing in Engelberg (an off-grid area) and the idea of Uepaa was born.
