Matt Schaar  

Believer in radical grace, cancer survivor, strategist, and entrepreneur.

Matt Schaar founded Brush Labs in 2012 after a decade-long career as an aerospace engineer and strategy consultant for some of the world's most prominent organizations. Specializing in organizational strategy, top-line revenue growth, strategic due diligence, and operational excellence while at the Boston Consulting Group, Matt brings seasoned experiences from the executive levels of Fortune 500 companies in order to improve the functional capability of startups, social enterprises, and educational organizations.

Prior to his time at BCG, Matt completed his studies at The University of Michigan, completing his MBA and Master of Public Policy degrees; his primary areas of focus were in corporate strategy, Base of the Pyramid business development, and international development. He engaged with policy and business leaders on several projects in the Philippines, Jamaica, and South Africa during his studies. He returned to Ann Arbor for his graduate degrees after completing his undergraduate studies, and pursuing a career, in Aerospace Engineering; he graduated With Honors from Michigan's College of Engineering and began his career with Rolls-Royce, plc and The Boeing Company, where he engaged with clients on six continents and completed exchange programs in Germany and China.

An avid traveler, Matt traveled to all seven continents in an eighteen-month span between 2009 and 2010, and most recently completed a trip to Israel and Palestine to assist in a reconciliation camp coordinated by Musalaha Ministries. Whether running on the riverfront, competing in triathlons on Belle Isle, or attending Tigers games, he is an advocate for all things Detroit and, as a native South Dakotan, is proud to call the Motor City his home.
